Cabin 5

Cabin 5

Located among the trees of Carmel, Cabin 5 is a modern retreat inspired by the cabin where the owners once vacationed. The forested setting and filtered coastal light reminded them of the views and atmosphere they cherished during those stays, becoming the conceptual foundation for the home. A restrained palette of dark gray stucco and black brick allows the architecture to blend quietly into the landscape while expressing a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

Designed to maximize connection to the surrounding forest, the home is defined by its transparency and openness. Floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive sliding glass doors line both sides of the house, filling the interiors with natural light and uninterrupted views of the trees. Continuous balconies extend across the entire second floor, creating elevated outdoor spaces that immerse the occupants in the landscape and reinforce the home’s sense of retreat.
